American Cockroach

American Cockroach Appearance: The largest house-infesting species. They are about one and one-half inches long with reddish-brown wings, light markings on thorax.
Habits: Very aggressive. They prefer warm, damp areas and are more likely to be seen in daytime and outdoors than other cockroach species.
Diet: They are scavengers that will eat almost anything.
Reproduction: Can live up to 15 months.

German Cockroach

German Cockroach Appearance: About five-eighths inch long, light to medium brown nocturnal.
Habits: They primarily infest areas close to food, moisture and warmth. The most common cockroach found in and around apartments, homes, supermarkets and restaurants.
Diet: They are scavengers that will eat almost anything.
Reproduction: Adults can live up to one year.
Other Information: Extremely heavy infestations are not uncommon. They are the widest distribution of all cockroaches in U.S.

Smokey Brown Cockroach

Smokey Brown Cockroach Appearance: Dark brown, up to one and one-half inches long.
Habit: Prefers to live outdoors. Populations are relatively immobile compared to other species.
Diet: They are scavengers that will eat almost anything. They normally feed on plant material.
Reproduction: Adults can live up to 200 days.
Other Information: Particularly numerous in southeastern U.S.; fly towards lights at night.

Oriental Cockroach

Oriental Cockroach Appearance: Dark brown, about one inch long.
Habit: Common outdoors and often enter buildings through sewer pipes. They tend to live near the ground and in warm damp areas.
Diet: Will eat anything, but found often feeding on garbage, sewage, and decaying organic matter. They seem to prefer starches if available.
Reproduction: Adults can live up to 180 days.
Other Information: They are more sluggish than other species and give off distinctive unpleasant odor.

Brown Banded Cockroach

Brown Banded Cockroach Appearance: About five-eighths inch long with wings and have two brownish-yellow bands nocturnal.
Habit: They can fly! May be found throughout anystructure, but prefer dry, warm areas, high locations, and inside furniture.
Diet: They are scavengers that will eat almost anything!
Reproduction: Adults live up to 10 months.
